South Hill
Nature
South Hill is a summit in central New York, in Oneida County northwest of Holland Patent, spanning the towns of Floyd and Western within South Hill State Forest. The surrounding state forest covers 622 acres and was acquired by New York in the 1950s for reforestation, wildlife management, timber production, recreation, and watershed protection. Those purposes shaped the hill’s present character as both a natural landmark and part of a carefully managed public landscape.
