The Borough of Hulmeville was named in honor of John Hulme, Jr., a leading industrialist who purchased the village in 1795. He established the Farmers National Bank there in 1814, the first bank in Bucks County. At the time, the community was a center of industry in this area, and it was incorporated as a borough in 1872.
