THE STORY

The Delaware and Hudson Canal was the terminus of the waterway uniting the Hudson and Delaware rivers. Built in 1825-28, it was fed by a gravity railroad reaching to Carbondale. For 70 years, it served as the anthracite trade outlet for the region.
