Mill Creek Park is a major urban park spanning Youngstown and Boardman, Ohio, with thousands of acres of lakes, wetlands, trails, and designed landscapes. Founded through the efforts of attorney Volney Rogers, who assembled land from more than ninety owners and helped secure the law that established the park, it officially opened in 1893. Its development was shaped by Bruce Rogers, Charles Eliot, and the Olmsted Brothers, while later additions included Fellows Riverside Gardens, the Ford Nature Education Center, Lanterman’s Mill, and Mill Creek Golf Course. More than a century later, it remains a defining landscape of the Youngstown area, blending civic vision, philanthropy, recreation, and nature.
