In Astoria, Oregon, the Oregon Film Museum occupies the old Clatsop County Jail, a historic building on the National Register of Historic Places and a familiar location from the opening chase in The Goonies. Opened in 2010 for that film's 25th anniversary, it uses the jail's screen fame to explore Oregon's wider film history. Exhibits feature movies shot around the state, including Kindergarten Cop, Free Willy, Twilight, The Shining, Sometimes a Great Notion, and National Lampoon's Animal House. Former jail cells display props, costumes, memorabilia, and collectibles, while interactive sets and green screens let visitors make short films.
