Isle of Wight County Confederate Monument
Military
1
From 1861 to 1865, the Confederate dead of Isle of Wight County were honored as heroes in a loving tribute that praised their bravery, their sacrifice, and their service in gray, declaring that they fought and fell bravely, that the land they struggled to save would not forget its warriors who sleep in many graves, and that glory and honor belong to those who fight for their country, die for it, do their duty, and keep integrity of principle.
