Two Lights State Park is a forty-one-acre public park on the headlands of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, overlooking Casco Bay and the Atlantic. Opened in 1961, it takes its name from the nearby twin Cape Elizabeth Lights and includes nearly two miles of paths across woods and exposed metamorphic shoreline formed from ancient ocean-floor sediment. The park also preserves remains of the Cape Elizabeth Military Reservation from World War II, including an unarmed seacoast battery bunker and fire control tower built as part of Portland’s harbor defenses. Offshore, USS Eagle 56 sank in 1945. The site brings together coastal scenery, geology, maritime history, and wartime remains.
