The Alvin Silver Co., producers of distinctive flatware and holloware, stood here and, along with the Watchcase Factory, was a stalwart employer in the village from 1911 until January 1, 1925, when the handsome structure was gutted on New Year's Day by one of Sag Harbor's recurrent fires.
