At dusk on Nov. 15, 1863, Lt. Gen. James Longstreet, C.S.A., coming from Loudon by way of Huff's Ferry and the Hotchkiss Valley Road, attacked Maj. Gen. Ambrose Burnside at Lenoir's Station. Burnside retreated early the next morning by way of Concord to Campbell's Station, now Farragut.
