This small subwatershed was a pilot project of the Little Sioux River Flood Preservation Project and the first organized subwatershed in Woodbury County. Supervised by the Woodbury County Soil and Water Conservation District and Soil Conservation Service, it healed gullies 70 feet wide and 36 feet deep and replaced an 85-foot wooden bridge. Private contractors completed construction of seventeen structures in September 1949 at a total cost of $197,006.00. The subwatershed covered 878 acres and included 12 farms and parts of farms, with five cooperating landowner-farmers: H.G. Corrie, Joseph J. Eickholt, Hazel E. Jett, Nicholas P. Sand, and Nicholas B. Theobald, all of Anthon, Iowa. It had 17 major structures, reduced outflow by 44%, and had a total drop in the main gully of 118.5 feet.
