The Gardens at SIUE is a 35-acre botanical garden on the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville campus that grew from the Donal G. Myer Arboretum, an effort advanced in 1990 by professor Frank Kulfinski and later named for dean Donal Myer. Expanded from a teaching collection of labeled native trees and shrubs, it was reimagined in the 2000s as a public botanical garden and took its present form under director Doug Conley. Its paths and destinations include the arboretum, Turtle Pond features, restored prairie and habitat areas, memorial gardens, and environmental art installations, while continuing to serve both academic study and public recreation.
