Organized by the Dakota Indian Presbytery on Oct. 3, 1869, with 47 members, Wakpaipaksan Okodakiciye changed its name in 1879 to First Presbyterian Church. Its building was constructed in 1873, restoration was completed in 2003, and it is the oldest continuously used church in the state of South Dakota.
