Building stones from Abraham Lincoln’s Danville law office and the Vermilion County Courthouse where he practiced law were preserved, along with a kettle used from 1824 to 1831 at Major Vance’s Salt Works, an early Vermilion County industry located about 4 miles west of this spot, and the site was also preserved in memory of Robert B. "Bob" Wright, 1914 - 1988, journalist, historian, humanitarian, and one of the founders of the Vermilion County Museum Society.
