On 2 February 1943, six Army Air Force personnel of the 100th Bomb Group, 350th Bomb Squadron were lost when their B-17F bomber crashed north of Bogue, Kansas during a ferry flight from Casper Army Air Base in Casper, Wyoming, to Tinker Field in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They were Pilot 1st Lt Paul M Capaccio of New Jersey, Co-Pilot FO Latimer L Stewart of California, Navigator 1st Lt Jacob M Madsen Jr. of Iowa, Engineer TSgt Thaddeus I Donlavage of Pennsylvania, Radio Operator SSgt Frank E Culver of Pennsylvania, and Passenger SSgt Heiner M Bloch of Michigan.
