The Roland Reisley House in Pleasantville, New York, is one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Usonia Homes in the Usonia Historic District and reflects his vision of modern suburban living carefully fitted to its site. Built for Roland Reisley after he bought the property in 1950, the original house was completed in 1951 and expanded in 1956, yet it has never been sold. Set into a hillside to seem “of the hill,” it uses a masonry core, wood siding, cypress paneling, and indigenous stone to create a natural, low-profile design. Its significance also lies in its rare continuity of ownership and place within Usonia, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
