An original lamp post that had been in active use for nearly a century in Liverpool, England, was presented by the people of that city to the residents of Liverpool, New York as a gesture of enduring friendship. Made possible by Lord Mayor Peter McKernan and the splendid cooperation of Guinness Exports LTD. and Heublfin Inc., this eternal light was erected and dedicated on May 30, 1962 in honor and loving memory of those who made the supreme sacrifice in defense of our country.
