The site now occupied by the Rogers Millwright Shop was once the home of Passaic Paper Mill. The paper mill was a stone mill built in 1837 and housed part of the Ivanhoe Paper Mill complex until 1857. In an 1860's photo looking north, the remains of the paper mill appear on the extreme right, and in the center are the truncated remains of the wooden flume that once channeled water to the mill.
