Friberg Swedish Baptist Church was organized on March 30, 1895, when 14 members from the Fergus Falls and Oscar Baptist Churches formed the congregation, opening the meeting with the reading of Act 2:37-47. Rev. John Hallstrom of Worthington served as chairman and Rev. A.G. Holm as secretary. Church officers elected were August Sandberg, chairman; C. Sandberg, secretary; Lars Hanson, deacon; J.S. Wenstrom, treasurer; A. Sandberg, Sunday School superintendent; J.G. Wenstrom, Sunday School treasurer; Mrs. Lars Hanson, president of the Ladies Aid Society; and Mrs. C. Sandberg, treasurer of the Ladies Aid Society. The church also had an active Young Peoples Society. The building was erected in 1895 by charter members August Sandberg, Lars A. Hanson, and John Hall, who are all buried here. Its first service was held on Christmas Eve 1895, when communion was served, candles lighted the tree, and hymns were sung with guitar and mandolin accompaniment, establishing a church home.
