On September 11, 2001, a coordinated terrorist attack took the lives of people at the World Trade Center in New York City, at the U.S. Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, and on United Airlines Flight 93 near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, as well as on American Airlines Flight 11, American Airlines Flight 77, and United Airlines Flight 175.
