Pearl Harbor National Memorial on Oahu preserves and interprets the sites most closely connected to the Japanese attack of December 7, 1941, which killed more than 2,400 Americans, sank twelve ships, and marked the United States’ entry into the Second World War. Established as an independent national memorial on March 12, 2019, it includes the USS Arizona Memorial, the USS Utah and USS Oklahoma memorials, surviving Ford Island bungalows, and former Battleship Row mooring quays. With its visitor center at Halawa Landing, it serves as both a historic landscape and a place of remembrance within the larger Pearl Harbor wartime setting.
