Founded in 1985 and opened in 1988 on the University of Alabama campus in Tuscaloosa, the Paul W. Bryant Museum preserves the history of Alabama football from the program’s first team in 1892, with special emphasis on coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. Inspired by Bryant’s own suggestion, it was intended to honor the coaches and players who shaped the program while building a permanent collection. Its holdings include artifacts tied to Bryant, the Associated Press Trophy Alabama won permanently in 1965, and video of more than 1,000 games. The museum also serves researchers, offers educational programs, and reflects Bryant’s lasting cultural influence in Alabama.
