On July 19, 1864, Logan's troops, in light fighting order, left camp at Henderson's mill northeast of this point at 5 A.M. and marched to Decatur, where they were joined by Blair's corps, which had camped at Blake's Mill two miles west. Both corps, with Logan leading, marched south and west by roads now designated Henderson Mill, LaVista, Montreal, and Lawrenceville. Together with Garrard's cavalry, these troops formed the left wing of Sherman's U.S. advance to Atlanta. On this date, the right wing, the 14th A.C., was at Moore's Mill on Peachtree Creek, ten miles southwest of this point.
