Elliott Knob is a 4,463-foot mountain on Great North Mountain in Virginia and one of the higher summits in the northern part of the state. Entirely within the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, it is notable for unusual high-elevation vegetation, including a small stand of red spruce on the summit and yellow birch and sugar maple on the upper slopes, with oak and hickory below. Wildlife in the area includes black bears, white-tailed deer, and bobcats. A closed fire lookout crowns the summit, which is reached only on foot by steep hiking routes. The mountain is a well-known regional hiking destination and part of the Grindstone 100 Miler route.
