Originally called the Cloyd Place, this 18 room hotel was built in 1890 by the Cloyd brothers, Zachary Wheat and Henry Clay, and was managed by their brother Thomas Tyler Cloyd. The 2 story wooden structure burned in 1920. It was reconstructed in 1924 in brick molded and fired on location and included 54 guest rooms. Amenities included a bath house, a 2 lane, 5 pin bowling alley, a swimming pool, a 9 hole golf course, croquet, and a house orchestra. Red, black, white, double and twist, and freestone water pumps were located here. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
