A Soldier's Epitaph presents a tribute to military veterans through verses honoring one who lies asleep in hallowed ground, a gentle heart stilled by nature's hands and once eloquent lips now silent, while eternal flames carry commands to remove evil as dawn consumes night, overcome hatred with love, bathe all mankind in freedom's light, and seek guidance from above. Written in 1988 by John H. Wehby, M.D., from The Permanent National Archives, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, it is dedicated in memory of the Military Veterans of America to Brown County veterans and affirms that freedom is not free.
