Garcia Wilderness is a 14,100-acre protected area in California's Los Padres National Forest, in San Luis Obispo County. Created by the U.S. Congress in 1992 through the Los Padres Condor Range and River Protection Act, it takes its name from Garcia Mountain, a 3,146-foot peak and east-west ridge in the Santa Lucia Range that forms the center of the wilderness. Its terrain ranges from chaparral and grasslands to oak forest, with drainage flowing toward the Salinas and Santa Maria rivers. Recreation remains limited and understated, with two designated campgrounds and three hiking trails, including the 11-mile Caldwell Mesa Trail.
