New Kent School
New Kent, Virginia
Education
New Kent School was designated a National Historic Landmark for its national significance in the history of the United States. In 1968, Green v. The County School Board challenged the state-maintained dual public school system for Blacks and Whites, illustrated by this formerly all White school. The Supreme Court's decision forced school boards to integrate, not simply desegregate the system.
