Coldwater Covered Bridge, also known as the Hughes Mill Covered Bridge, is a wooden covered bridge in Oxford, Alabama, and the oldest existing covered bridge in the state. Built around 1850, though possibly as early as 1839, it originally crossed Coldwater Creek near Coldwater Mill, a saw and lumber mill owned by Peter N. Hughes and Humphrey Hughes. Reportedly built by a former slave, it has a rare link to the region’s antebellum past. The 63-foot bridge features an uncommon Multiple King-post truss and Town Lattice design, survived a 1920 fire and later repair, and was restored and moved in 1990 to Oxford Lake Park.
