Arundel, Maine · Kennebunk, Maine

1
Built circa 1750, this Colonial Saltbox home is one of a handful of colonial homes still standing in Kennebunk. It was built for Captain James Hubbard, originally from Berwick, Maine. During the initial days of the Revolutionary War, Hubbard commanded a company of men from southern Maine, including his son Diamond, and they marched to Cambridge, Massachusetts, for a term of eight months. Captain Hubbard died in service at Cambridge in 1775 at the age of 47. The building to the rear of the home was once the attached barn and is now a residence.
