The playhouse was built by hand in 1936 in Marion, Texas, at the home of Rossi and Laura Tondre, for their daughter, Roslyn Tondre Bates. It was eventually donated to the City of Marion, Texas, to be placed in Veterans Park as a symbol of historic Marion, Texas.
