Pier Cemetery preserves the graves of members of the Pier family and others connected to early Fond du Lac County. Fanna Pier, daughter of Nathan and Betsey Kendell and wife of Colwert Pier, died March 1, 1838, aged 30, and was identified as the first white female resident and the first death in Fond du Lac County. Those buried there include Colwert E. Pier, who died April 5, 1857, aged 47, and was identified as the first resident of Fond du Lac County; Oliver W. Pier, who died November 3, 1851, aged 28; Calvin Pier, who died February 13, 1856, aged 76; Esther, wife of Calvin Pier, who died October 3, 1869, aged 86; Norman Pier, who died June 1, 1857, aged 30; Norman, son of N. C. and S. B. Pier, who died September 18, 1859, aged 3; Oliver Pier, who died June 1, 1857, aged 39; Edward Pier, born in New Haven, Vermont, March 3, 1807, and died November 2, 1877; Harriet N., wife of Edward Pier, who died August 21, 1864; Colwert K. Pier, born June 7, 1841, died April 14, 1895, and served as colonel of the 38th Infantry, U.S. Army, Wisconsin Volunteers, in the Civil War; Harriet Pier Raymond, wife of A. Raymond, who died July 28, 1847, aged 26; John W. Ellsworth, who died November 29, 1848, aged 26; Harry N. Buell, who died March 31, 1853, aged 33; Edward Carpenter, the year-old son of J. W. and Anne Carpenter and grandson of Edward Pier, buried in 1857; and Charles F. Pease, who died October 17, 1863.
