The Rev. G.W. Bounds was born in Hickory, Miss. His family came to Texas in 1864. He preached his first sermon in 1880 and was ordained in 1890. He helped organize the Wortham Methodist Church and was one of its charter members. He was instrumental in organizing churches in the area and serving their people, and he was beloved for his good works.
