It is dedicated to those who sacrificed their lives to preserve American heritage so that others may live in peace, and it remembers S.S.G. David W. Barrus, who served on many shores and in many battles without malice; Frederick A. Young, whose devotion was surpassed by none; Beatrice A. Dean, a past president; and Roy C. Tharp. It also honors those who served honorably and well as duty called, the veterans who served in Operation Desert Shield from Aug. 2, 1990, to Jan. 17, 1991, and Operation Desert Storm from Jan. 17, 1991, to Feb. 28, 1991, as well as veterans of the Global War on Terrorism beginning on 9-11-2001. It further remembers fallen comrades of the 1st Cavalry Div. at the 38th parallel and closes with the sentiments "Peace with honor, peace with dignity, peace..." and "For God & Country..." as a tribute to those who have earned eternal rest.
