Powerscourt Covered Bridge, also known as Percy Bridge, carries First Concession Road over the Châteauguay River in Hinchinbrooke, Quebec. Built in 1861, it is among Canada’s oldest surviving covered bridges and is exceptionally significant for its McCallum inflexible arched truss, developed by Daniel McCallum. Because nearly all bridges of this type were built for railways and those wooden spans were later replaced, Powerscourt remains the only surviving McCallum truss bridge and the last bridge of its kind in the world. Supported on three masonry piers with two independent spans, it was recognized for its rarity and age and fully restored in 2009 to its original plans.
