Barlow Planetarium in Menasha, Wisconsin, opened in March 1998 on the Fox Cities campus of Winnebago County as Wisconsin’s first major planetarium. Named for businessman and mineral collector F. John Barlow, whose gift was the largest private donation toward construction, it debuted with Through the Eyes of Hubble, about the Hubble Space Telescope’s servicing mission and early years. Its 102-seat dome theater includes interactive audience voting panels and equipment for astronomy and multimedia presentations, including a Digistar II star projector, panorama slide projectors, and an all-sky system. In 2004, it added a three-color argon laser projection system synchronized with music.
