Organized as Cool Springs Baptist Church in John Bostick home in 1848, the congregation met there until 1855 about 500 feet west. Its first log meeting house and cemetery stood on Vance Street from 1855 to 1867, and its second church house was located in the present Cool Springs Cemetery from 1867 to 1889. In 1938 the church deeded the cemetery to the town of Forest City. Its third church house, called Forest City Baptist, stood on this site from 1889 to 1915 and was the first brick building in Forest City. It served as a public school from 1915 to 1922. The site was then the location of the parsonage from 1923 to 1985. The fourth and present church was erected in 1915, and the Alexander Memorial Educational Building followed in 1927. The church was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
