The Forest Plantation was the home and grave of William Dunbar (1749-1810), a Scot settler who surveyed the boundary line between the USA and Spain in 1798 and led the first exploration of the Louisiana Purchase in 1804. He was a world-famed scientist and inventor in Mississippi Territory.
