The building began as the Bridgehampton Hook and Ladder Company headquarters in 1909 and became the First Baptist Church of Bridgehampton in 1924. After Dia bought it in 1979, renovations under architect Richard Gluckman and Flavin adapted the structure for light-based art while preserving references to its firehouse and church past.
