The citizens of East Providence served in the World War from 1917 to 1918, and the community dedicated this memorial on July 30, 1927, in memory of Fred A. Almquist, John D. Austin, John E. Benson, Edgar P. Black, Donald E. Carlton, Joseph E. Castro, Terrence J. Daley, Albert Fleming, John Gonsalves, Frederick A. Harmon, Jr., Ray L. Harris, Robert B. Harvey, Harold H. Jentzel, Arthur W. Johnson, William H. Lepper, Jr., Raymond J. Mowry, William D. Packer, Howard G. Parker, Albert J. Payette, Manuel Rose, Albert C. Shepard, Richard J. Stark, and Howard M. Wilmarth.
