A fort at this site was burned in 1779 by Indians and Tories under the command of Joseph Brant, and it was rebuilt in 1793. This house was later occupied for one hundred years, from 1865 to 1965, by the family of Nellie R. Cannon. Through the efforts of Gertrude Lyons Kellam, the site was made available to the Minisink Valley Historical Society in 1970.
