Peak Mountain, a 4,921-foot peak in North Carolina’s High Country near Seven Devils, lies within Pisgah National Forest and is also known as Tynecastle Peak, Invershiel Peak, and Dunvegan Peak. It is important for the region’s watersheds, with slopes feeding the headwaters of the Elk, Linville, and Watauga rivers. Though no official trails reach the summit, the mountain is closely connected to local outdoor recreation through Hawksnest Snow Tubing and Zipline on its northern ridge and the nearby start of Grandfather Mountain’s Profile Trail. In December 2019, Blue Ridge Conservancy bought 91 acres, including the summit, helping protect this scenic and ecologically important peak.
