The Woodstock Museum of Shenandoah County in downtown Woodstock, Virginia, preserves the region’s history through collections housed in two historic homes. Founded in 1969 and still operated by volunteers, it presents everyday life in Woodstock and the surrounding area through Civil War relics, pottery, textiles, clothing, paper items, fraternal regalia, photography, regional walnut furniture, farm tools, and a recovered moonshine still. The Marshall House, a dressed limestone building associated by local tradition with Thomas Marshall, and the Wickham House, an 18th-century log home with period room settings, together hold artifacts spanning the 18th and early 19th centuries and later local memory.
