The Union Bank of Clinton was chartered in 1894, and its building on this site was constructed in 1901. The building survived the Market Street fires of 1905 and 1908 and helped stop the fire from burning buildings on the east side of the street. Union Bank moved to a new building on Main Street in 1951. In 1956, businessman L.B. Parker renovated the building for his furniture and jewelry store by replacing the façade and adding a new second floor. Salvaged brick, lentils, and other architectural elements from the original bank façade remain visible at the rear and sides of the building. Mr. Parker sold the business in 1971.
