Twin Sisters were cannons presented by citizens of Cincinnati to the Republic of Texas in April 1836. At San Jacinto on April 21, 1836, the help of Cincinnati’s citizens to Texans struggling for freedom and justice contributed to a new dawn for free men, and the battle fought there won the independence of Texas. In 1974, descendants of those who fought dedicated replicas of the Twin Sisters at San Jacinto and rededicated themselves to the responsible continuation of the freedom that had been gained. Twenty boulders were also placed there to illustrate the battle.
