Caspar Headlands State Beach is a protected section of Northern California coast near Caspar, with 75 acres of beach and headlands along miles of largely undeveloped shoreline. Once used for logging until 1955, the area became more accessible after the Golden Gate Bridge opened in 1939, and the park was established in 1972. Its present form resulted from local conservation efforts after a 1997 plan to sell much of the village, including part of the beach. Land trust purchases and public funding secured the headlands by 2000, and state ownership began in June 2002. The beach now supports recreation, whale watching, and diverse coastal habitat.
