This war memorial honors all from Lincoln County and the City of Fayetteville who served, and is dedicated to the memory of those who made the supreme sacrifice in World War I and II, the Korean Conflict, Viet Nam, and Operation Iraqi Freedom, whose patriotism is held in perpetual remembrance. It was erected by the citizens of Lincoln County and the City of Fayetteville and sponsored by the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. It was erected October 7th 1957 and records the names of those from World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Viet Nam Conflict, and Operation Iraqi Freedom, including 1st Lt. William Eric Emmert, who died February 24 2009.
