These historical cannons stood in front of Dr. Mudd's cell on the Dry Tortugas, Key West, Florida. The government donated them to Wm Stanley Post No. 148 G.A.R.-SD on Oct. 11, 1901, with T.L. Monaghan as Adjt., J.G. Baker as Comdt., and an address by Col. W.V. Lucas.
