Ole Cowtown, branded 018, was a feared grey brindle Brahma bull that weighed eighteen hundred pounds. Many bull riders put a rope on him, and most hit the ground; in more than 350 rides, only five made the judges' book. He was known not only for tossing riders off but also, by reputation, for booking. Bennie Beutler acquired him at four years old from Howard and Grant Harris of Cowtown Rodeo, and he was one they wished they had never sold. Among the many good bulls that came and went and caused bull riders to frown, Cowtown was remembered as one of the most feared.
