The Madisonville Church of Christ congregation was organized in November 1858 by Brother Benton Sweeney and nineteen charter members. For many years it was served by traveling ministers, and its members worshiped in a number of buildings erected at various sites in town. Known as the Christian Church until the early 1900s, the congregation moved to this site in 1931. A new sanctuary was built here in 1988. Throughout its history, the congregation has counted among its membership many prominent Madisonville citizens and community leaders.
