A roll of honor was erected by the citizens of this community to honor the boys who answered their country’s call and to memorialize those who made the supreme sacrifice in World War I, 1914–1918: Orville Bazil, J. Lowell Boyer, Albert B. Cole, Lloyd Conner, Oscar Paul Kindell, Arlie Nicholas, and Fred Siler. It closes with the words, “That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
